Janky experience

Hello All.

My KDE 6.3.4 Wayland session started getting janky from the last few weeks, after a couple of updates. This is on a AMD 6800XT GPU with kernel 6.14.x and Mesa 25.0.5-2. The mouse cursor is not smooth when moving around, I can see it is dropping frames. I run 2 4K monitors, one at 165Hz and the other at 240Hz. Things were pretty smooth till recently. I turned on Show FPS under Desktop Settings, and it shows that everything runs at some insanely high number like Current FPS 405 Maximum FPS 239.

I tried the following things:

  1. Switched around to different kernels like 6.13.x or LTS 6.12.x and the issue persists.
  2. Switched around to default Breeze theme and other themes, and the issue still exists.

Not sure how to debug this or where to look for logs and not sure what is happening here. Any help is appreciated.

Hi! I’m no graphics expert, but if you can include the output of the following command in this thread, it’s likely to be helpful for folks with more knowledge of that topic

qdbus6 org.kde.KWin /KWin supportInformation (if that command isn’t found, try qdbus-qt6)

What mouse do u have? I had a similar problem when running with 8k hz polling, it started working again normally when I limited it to 1k hz. Obviously this sucks for gaming but at least the mouse is usable again
