Kaffeine 2.0.19 deb package and flatpak broken. Kaffeine crashes after doing a channel scan and saving the scanned channels. Nothing is saved. Both deb package and flatpak exhibit this behavior. Version 2.0.18 worked perfectly fine. Flathub lists Kaffeine as 2.0.18 in some store apps (Linux Mint) but downloads version 2.0.19 instead. I’ve tried this on several distros, Linux Mint 22.2, LMDE 7 (beta), and Debian 13 KDE all crashed and closed the app after trying to save a channel scan (in my case ATSC scan). Please look into this.
Thank you!
I am having the exact same problem running the flatpak on Rocky9. Scan finds channels and as soon as I click OK after adding them it exits with no errors.
I did a build from source, and the problem remains …
sudo apt-get build-dep package
apt-get source package
cd package-1.0
dpkg-buildpackage -b -uc -us

I have used version 2.0.18 from Debian 12 Bookworm and installed it in Debian 13 Trixie and it works very well. Only problem is if you are not running KDE and are using a gnome based DE, you end up pulling in 200+ dependencies to install it. On the Ubuntu side, version 2.0.18 is available up to 25.04. From 25.10 and up it goes to version 2.0.19. Dealing with flatpak packaging almost all the distro stores list Kaffeine as version 2.0.18 but downloads and installs version 2.0.19 including Flathub and installing it directly form the website. The real problem is when you try to downgrade the flatpak version the output shows 2.0.18 but it is actually 2.0.19. The only way to downgrade to the real 2.0.18 version is to downgrade one of the runtimes to force it to downgrade to version 2.0.18. Then you have to pin that version once you have to keep it from automatically upgrading itself. Try it, you will see what I am talking about. I don’t know who to tell about the flatpak packaging issue, but it needs to be repackaged back to the older version until the developer of Kaffiene sorts out the issue with version 2.0.19 because in its present state it is totally unusable for DVB and ATSC devices.
I would offer more help but I am not a developer or write code. And I won’t take up coding at my age (70), I am just an end user who knows his way around a Linux distro and can make adjustments here and there but that’s about it. I appreciate you time and hope to hear more about this issue.
