Kate preview does not work, markdownpart is missing in scources

I noticed the preview option in Kate does not work in Kubuntu 24.10.
the package markdownpart is not installed and its not avaiable in apt.

the html preview does not seem to work either.

Is it possible to install markdownpart from here:

I found a bug report here, but it is not exact. For me the preview works in Neon after installing markdown and markdownpart, but there is no report for kubuntu, it seems.

Or would that make things worse?

Please let me know what i can do to fix it.

You need to tell Kubuntu to update it, others need it too:

Upgrading to kde6 broke markdown preview

After upgrading to KUbuntu 24.10 Kate’s markdown document preview shows “no preview available” despite markdownpart being installed. Also, markdownpart doesn’t show up in System Settings > Default Applications > File Associations > Markdown > Embedding. Kate version: 24.08.01 markdownpart apt package version: 23.08.5-0ubuntu3 KDE Frameworks version: 6.6.0 Plasma version: 6.1.5 Qt 6.6.2, Wayland.

I am unsure whether I should make a bug report, I also talked to some folks and they said they would put it on their list of things to fix, as they said, kate is ported to plasma 6 already, but markdownpart isn’t yet.

Many distros that have KDE 6 (and Gear 24.08 obviously) have it already, Fedora, Arch, OpenSUSE TW, Manjaro, etc. Kubuntu just needs to build it.

I’m in th same case, still kubuntu 24.10.
I’m afraid that there is nothing to do still kubuntu25.04 ?
Or may I hope an update will solve the problem ? Do I need to activate any of “backport” or “propososed” deposit for that ? …
