Kate session randomly gets wiped

In Kate, when I create a session containing various files, close Kate and reopen it, sometimes I find that the session is empty afterward, and reloading the session shows that it is still empty. Oddly, this doesn’t always happen; usually I can close and reopen Kate multiple times with the session intact, but suddenly after a few times of restarting Kate, the bug occurs. This has been happening since at least last year, and has not been fixed even with multiple updates.

You forgot to mention the version of Kate you are using

I’m using Kate 25.08.3.

25.12 contains the fix for last known session data bug (https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=508494). Perhaps it fixes your issue, otherwise its a different unknown bug.
