KBackup compresses individual files and not the tar backup

I am running KBackup ver 22.12.3. There is an option to compress the backup tar file, with the option “Compress Files”. Please see the screenshot given below with the option selected. Now the behavior of this setting is that it compresses the individual files using XZ or BZIP2 or GZIP and then combines them into a tar file. What it does not do is to create a tar file and then compress it, i.e. creating a .tar.bz2 or .tar.xz or .tar.gz file. Is there a way that this behavior can be changed so that the individual files are not compressed but rather the tar file is compressed?

Also is it possible to pass option to control the compression level like --best or --extreme or -T0 to the compression algorithm that is used?

Any help guys? Anyone who is using KBackup can you please check and confirm this?
