I haven’t used a calculator that doesn’t do this for quite a long time - not sure why it would annoy anyone, and it allows you to edit and tweak your formulae and observe the live result… and it’s hard to imagine that the live result could actually distract anyone who is looking at the formula and editing it.
I actually use Qalculate - and another interesting function of that calculator is that it shows a result with your formula basically re-written to show any assumptions and what is ACTUALLY being calculated.

“not sure why it would annoy anyone” is such a irrelevant and arrogant way of answering that I don’t even want to waste time on this issue.
I think that’s wise.
I’m sorry if it came across as being arrogant - I am now genuinely curious how many other people are likely to chime in and agree and it is annoying that you have live updates on the results as you enter or edit your formula.
Personally I always find this to be a killer feature in calculators and find it annoying if I have to search and hit an equals or an answer button before it will finish the job.
I would definitely recommend Qalc, however, as a vastly superior calculator.
