I’m using KDE 5 on Linux Mint and have set up the panel appropriately. It looks like this:
KDE 5
On another PC, I have KDE 6 with Debian testing and want to set up the panel exactly as shown in the image above. Unfortunately, I can’t get it to look the same. The first icons on the panel always have a space between them. And the panel forcibly tries to align the first icons with the window underneath in a column-like manner. What setting do I need to change to prevent this? And to make it look like the one above?
If you right-click on the panel and enter the panel configuration, you should be able to see the remove icon that allows you to get rid of widgets.
If you do this, you will see that the empty space is filled up with light blue. That’s a panel separator. If you right-click on it you should be able to remove it. This, however, will clutter all the icons together.
In your particular setup, in the KDE6 version, I see that there is one of these spacers between the task manager and the pager. Removing this spacer will suffice.
I’m not sure, but I believe this function no longer exists in KDE 6 Plasma.
Can I simply copy the settings from the KDE 5 Plasma PC and paste them into KDE 6 Plasma? (If yes, which folders/files would I need to copy?)
It’s difficult for me to find the right setting (if there is one). Because I don’t know exactly what “icons only” are called, and next to them icons-with-text.
If this setting no longer exists, I would delete these icons. Because this behavior somewhat defeats the purpose of multi-line icons.
