KDE Akademy 2026

Last week I attended this year’s KDE Akademy in Graz, Austria, my 20th in-person Akademy.

Nice blog post @vkrause!

I really enjoyed your presentation on turning users into contributors, very cool idea. :fire:

I didn’t get a chance to chat with you about it at Akademy: would such an instant dev environment as you demonstrated support editor tooling (go to source, hover docs, autocomplete, etc), or would the sources for that not be available in that environment?

It would be great if we could make that work, have a top-notch experience to bring in new contributors. :rocket:

I agree, this would be really useful.

This is certainly something to consider when implementing the Flatpak build support in Kate or KDevelop, but I don’t see a technical reason making it impossible to support that, it should “only” need the compile_commands.json to be generated and found.
