KDE application menu - Either scaled up, cut off, or far away

Wayland session of plasma KDE 6.2.2 on KF 6.7.0, Qt 6.8.0 of Arch 6.11.5-arch1-1 (64-bit). Monitor scaling is 100%, Legacy applications (X11) apply scaling themselves, HDR is disabled. Pulse Radeon 7900XTX using amdgpu Mesa 24.2.5-arch1.1

My guess is that these are somehow all related, but I’m unsure what causes it. I’ve tried going through the system settings and toggling everything but no luck so far.

These issues occur in all programs, however I’ve just easily replicated in Dolphin and VLC.

When opening an application for the first time after boot or after S3/S4 state, sub-menus of the application menu tend to be scaled out of proportion or they are scaled normally but do not expand in the entire x- and y-dimensions. It may be a consistent default size for sub-menus, I am not sure. However, as far as I have noticed, after the first time the menu is loaded and then closed, any subsequent loads will display the menu normally in these regards.
(I’m limited to 1 image)

Also, when opening the application menu by clicking on the program icon on the far top-left corner, the main menu will sometimes open at an offset across the window. This problem persists through-out any changes or restarts but is relatively intermittent and I have not figured out how to reliably replicate it.

This is what the cut off sub-menus look like.

i have the same issue. Not sure what is causing it, but i think it started with plasma 6.2, currently I’m on Plasma 6.2.3, wayland, Thinkpad x1 yoga gen 7, 12th gen intel

maximizing the window minimizes the gap

As a “just-in-case” check - do either of you have any Window Rules set in System Settings > Apps & Windows > Window Management > Window Rules? (Thinking of anything that could be misbehaving there, possibly?)

Also, something that could possibly be helpful in diagnosing is running a program that reproduces the error from a terminal (ex. opening up Konsole and then running dolphin if Dolphin does it), then watching the terminal output to see if any clear error messages show up.

A step beyond that would be to trigger the issue, then check sudo journalctl --since=-1m to look at the last minute’s worth of system log entries, to see if anything related to graphical rendering, menus, etc. is showing errors.

Just some thoughts there on how to possibly get a more concrete error out of the system when those menu issues are showing up.

When I initially ran into this, I did not having any window rules set up, those that I have no are specific to window classes that are not experiencing this issue.

I have since enabled the menu title bars on windows to alleviate the issue for now, but I will attempt checking journal and running from terminal if I can still reproduce it now.

This is currently occurring with me. Running journalctl -f every time I click for the dropdown menu I get kwin_core: Cannot grant a token to KWin::ClientConnection
