On F-Droid, KDE Connect got an update yesterday (v1.32.10). On updating, the app is blocked by Google Play Protect. The Google Play Store offers v1.32.5 as most recent version - i.e. older than the one published by F-Droid. On the other hand, the git repo shows a 1.32.10 from Jan, 12th…
Is Play Protect overreacting and blocking (again) a legit release, or is there actually something fishy about the F-Droid package?
F-Droid shows me Version 1.32.5 - Play Store, and it works… and is the version shown to me via F-Droid too.
Perhaps your local database has not been updated? It’s on the website, too: hxxps://f-droid.org/de/packages/org.kde.kdeconnect_tp/ (can’t include links for some reason)
In any case: 10 hours later, it installed without any complaints. Perhaps it was a glitch… or perhaps someone from Google was reading this
Last night I was installing f-droid on my Chrome OS tablet and it game me the same message.
I have a feeling it is a false positive reaction from Play Protect.
seems so, as it stopped notifying. i got the blockage screen when updating from F-Droid (which isn’t too hard to bypass, it’s just hidden because they don’t want you to), then overnight i got a play protect notification asking me to uninstall, and throughout the day when going to the play store the play protect screen of the play store had KDE connect marked as unsafe. but at some point that stopped and now going to play protect there’s nothing to see.
