Hallo Community!
One of the features of KDE Connect is the Matching of contacts between Smartphone and KDE-Desktop.
How do you get this matching?
Do you need a command?
Does it run automatically?
Does it run eventually only with the default google contact apps (no secure data)?
Anyway I cannot detect until now - after years using KDE Connect - no contacts matching.
Hello,
My configuration :
Fairphone 4 with IodeOS. Contact app : com.android. contact or other. No Google account.
Addressbook on cloud : zaclys
Kdeconnect can see thé contacts on my phone.
Did you set the good permissions on you phone ?
Unfortunately I can’t afford the expense for a Fairphone, but I think, it does not depend on the smartphone brand, if KDE Contact is able to match contacts.
Yes, on PC and Smartphone I set KDE Connect to:
browse data each other
match contacts
send and receive files
permits other tools, which are not important in this case.
A question to you:
What do you mean with “Kdeconnect can see thé contacts on my phone”? How are they seen?
Can KDE Connect open the contact app on your phone?
It was just for context. Indeed, it does not depend on the smartphone brand.
I mean, what the PC (via kdeconnect) is able to do on the phone.
I don’t believe it. On the PC, on the kdeconnect icon in the taskbar, you can see :
Share files
Make my phone ring
Browse this device
SMS message
If you want to send a SMS, you can see the names of the contacts on the SMS messages already in progress. And if you want to create a SMS, when you search for a contact, you can see the contacts created on the phone.
On a PC, this option is in the settings of KDEconnect. Once you have the connection between phone and PC.
You have to enable this option on the PC AND the phone
