KDE Connect mounting

I’m using KDE connect on a Pixel phone and find that I’m not able to mount the phone’s filesystem; nothing happens when I select that option from the GSConnect menu.
I found some bug tickets suggesting that editing ssh_config can assist, e.g.
gnome-shell-extension-gsconnect/issues/1203 on Github.
But, if I try to ssh to my phone’s IP address I find that the connection is refused as no ports are open (according to nmap), when I would expect sshd to be listening on port 1740.
This is on a home router which is, as far as I can tell, not running any sort of firewall for local connections; I can ssh between other systems on the network.
Does anyone know what’s going on here?

I don’t know the answer to your problem.

KDE Connect doesn’t like the ad hoc and hotspot networks I’ve got rigged around the house, so when I need access to android filesystem, I run “Primitive FTP” on my phone and FileZilla on my laptop, and it works very well.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried Primitive FTP and, unfortunately, it closes as soon as the server is started and leaves an empty log directory.
I’ll see if I can find another similar app to follow the approach you suggest.

Ah shame. Thought it sounds like you need to do something with your phone, I’m not sure how to help with that, maybe best to try a pixel forum and get the SSH working first. It’s worth fiddling with primitive when you do, very simple and reliable once it’s going. I’m old and stupid and gave up with SMB/NFS/syncthing on my local network with linux and just use filezilla.

Luckily Solid Explorer includes an FTP server which will suffice for now.
