KDE Connect remote keyboard fails to input text in another language

I’m using KDE Connect to remotely control my Fedora 43 Plasma 6.6 (Wayland) notebook from my Android device.

Mouse works perfectly, but there is an issue with remote keyboard. I have multiple keyboard locales set on both devices. The notebook only accepts input in it’s main (top) layout. So if it’s English then it only accepts English. If I send non-English characters, nothing is entered. If I drag English down and put some other (especially non-latin) language as the top/default, then that language is accepted just fine and English isn’t.

Is this a bug? Known limitation? Or am I doing something wrong? Any way to bypass this?

I’ve tried manually clicking on the language code in the system tray. It works only for 1 character and then automatically switches back to the main locale.
