I am using Fedora 41 with 6.3.2 KDE. I use two monitors with VGA and HDMI connected to my laptop which supports two monitors with the built-screen turned off. Recently I wasn’t able to get into the DE after booting with more than one monitor connected to the PC. It would have a blank screen with only flashing underscore “_” where I was only able to access a tty. When I remove the monitors the login manager launches. If I try to turn on two monitors in settings I get the message “Couldn’t apply display configuration: The driver rejected the output configuration”
It was working before and dual-monitors still work in bios and grub with mirrored displays. Please help

is kscreen installed ?
Package “kscreen-1:6.3.2-1.fc41.x86_64” is already installed
here some further ideas:
package kwin also needed, how about you reinstall sddm and plasma meta packages all together. By the way have you tested both X11 and wayland ?
Hi - from the description, it sounds like you might be experiencing the following bug reported in the KDE Bugtracking System: 500819 – SDDM / Desktop is not reachable since 6.3.2 with multiple monitors configuration ?
If so, then a fix for that is coming down the pipeline, likely within the next week depending on how distributions are handling it
thanks guys. i guess i’ll wait for the update that would fix the issue, hope to see it soon!
