In Konsole, META always opens the menu. Therefore, I can no longer use many shortcuts in nano.
I usually prevent this behavior in the console settings by disabeling “menu accelerators”. This doesn’t work any more on two different machines.
Can anybody confirm this issue?
Which menu?
Accelerators are usually triggered with ALT, not META.
What shortcut does use META? I cannot find any: Cheatsheet for GNU nano
Sorry, I wasn’t precise. I even didn’t mention my KDE version. I’m running Fedora 41, KDE6.3, latest KDE gear.
Konsole menu. Every time I try to mark a text in nano with ALT+A, the top window menu opens with “split view”
At least in the context of nano, META means ALT. Probably it’s old school, but what you describe as META was called “SUPER”. See this explanation.
Look at the shortcuts under the editor window (M for META):
M-U Undo
M-A Set Mark
M-] To Bracket
M-Q Previous
M-E Redo
M-6 Copy
M-W Next
Ah, I see. In the KDE world we call ALT ↔ ALT and the “Windows Key” ↔ META.
Its unfortunately a known issue: 482628 – Allow disabling toolBar accelerator
Thanks for pointing me to the bug tracker. Disabeling the main toolbar under settings > toolbars shown at least allows using ALT+A again.
