KDE mouse cursor issue

I’m using KDE Plasma on EndeavourOS, and recently, only on the desktop, the mouse cursor changes to another state and does not go back.

For example, when dragging a folder, the cursor becomes a hand, and stays like that instead of going back to the default pointer icon.

Image example (should be pointer):

What happens when you change themes?

Same issue for another user account?

When I change themes, it resets the cursor. And I have not tried it on another user account because I only have one. I might make another one just to see but I assume that it will happen there as well (I don’t have any major system changing packages installed that I know of.)

That’s not true unless you’re ONLY talking about changing/applying a GLOBAL theme which changes the cursor.

Global themes obtained from Pling are completely unsupported and when you install them there’s a prominent warning.

Are you not capable of simply changing your cursor without applying a Global Theme?

Again, the first step that should come with every post - almost 100% certain that this user has installed some dodgy Global Theme, and is complaining about the consequences of applying a GLOBAL theme without telling it you don’t want to change the cursor or some other included detail.

What I’m saying is that it resets the cursor back to the normal pointer, it does not change the actual cursor theme.

And this is not some random dodgy Global Theme that I got off some website, it’s the Orchis theme which is used by many people. I got it from the official Arch repos, not Pling.

Also, was also occurring with the default Breeze theme as well

Anyways, the issue fixed itself after an update I just did.

No need to be so rude…

I wasn’t trying to be rude - I was simply asking if you could fix the cursor without applying a Global Theme…

The first thing to do when finding a ‘bug’ like this is test it on another account; it takes a second to create a new USER and log in.

Also it’s important to say whether it’s only when you use the Global Theme application, or if you can change Just the cursor and get the same effect.

So I think:

  1. See if this happens when only changing the cursor, not using ‘Global Theme’ and
  2. Create a new user to test the desktop
