KDE Neon User latest problems with AMDGPU

I’ve installed KDEneon User latest, which uses kernel 6.8.0-52-generic (amd64). amdgpu drivers are there, and I tried loading (separately) both amdgpu and radeon drivers. Neither would load, failing with “Invalid argument” or parameters errors. I tried using kernel versions for which others claimed success, including 6.5.0-14-generic, 24.04.1 kernel, and 6.11.0-17-generic, but none posted instructions as to how they got amdgpu working. I tried both wayland and X11, same problems.

I have reams of journalctl error output I could include, but i hesitate to include all of it in the first post … and the errors varied for the several kernel versions

If someone who has amdgpu working in KDEneon user latest, I would much appreciate details and/or links or other pointers as to how I might succeed Thx, Gus

Hi! Could you perhaps mentioned what steps you followed when you tried loading graphics drivers?

I’m asking that because support for AMD graphics cards is generally built into the Linux kernel and activated with no user intervention needed, in the same way as other hardware components (like your keyboard, mouse, etc.) that are supported within the kernel itself.

Could you also please provide your basic system information from the Info Center app? The Copy Details button is the easiest way to get that ready to paste in:
