kde networkmanager capitve portal login

Im not really sure where to ask this question or where to report this “bug”, but the kde version of networkmanager’s captive portal login functionality links directly to a “.txt” file, so captive portal redirects dont work. i’m on an arch based distro.

frankly i think it would be good to have the cp login attempt link be configurable.

wheres the proper place to report this?

Interesting. Last time I had this it pointed to http://networkcheck.kde.org/

I guess the most likely “product” in KDE’s bugzilla is
frameworks-networkmanager-qt

Hi @nick_pitlosh - for reference, the location checked by NetworkManager is set by each Linux distribution in how they configure that package. For Arch Linux, the configuration happens here: PKGBUILD · main · Arch Linux / Packaging / Packages / networkmanager · GitLab

I do wonder if a .txt file inherently messes that up, though, only because I don’t recall having problems the few times I’ve used a captive portal connection on my Fedora laptop, and Fedora uses a similar configuration: Tree - rpms/NetworkManager - src.fedoraproject.org .

If it does reproducibly cause issues, though, then that should be reported to the Arch Linux packagers.

Ah, makes sense that this is configured system wide.

Luckily that gives @nick_pitlosh and easy way to change it until the package can be fixed

That report makes little sense.

As @johnandmegh has pointed out that is a system wide configuration and has nothing to do with KDE’s front end to NetworkManager.

If the URL configured by your distribution does not work you need to report this against the package of your distributor.
