Hi! Do you see flickering if you go to Show Panel Configuration and change it from Adaptive or Translucent to Opaque?

And do you have Adaptive sync turn on in your Display settings? If so, does the issue persist if you turn that off?

Possibly a side note, too - is that information about your GPU utilization/power draw taken from an “at rest” state on the desktop, or did you have something running in the background? Just asking as that seems like it would be awfully high for just regular desktop computing

As for the first one, it persists on all of the options.
Adaptive sync is turned off, if i turn it on it goes away but my OLED causes really bad flicker and it feels low hz.
As for the third one I had firefox open, discord, and spotify playing in the browser.

Hmm - does the issue occur if you boot using the Nouveau drivers, or if you connect to the integrated graphics on your device?

I’m sure other issues might happen with Nouveau, given how new that GPU is, but that might help narrow down whether it’s happening specifically when using the NVIDIA card and proprietary drivers.

Does the issue occur with only something like Okular open scrolling through a document? It might be worth testing to see if it’s occuring in tandem with a specific application.

I don’t have any HDMI cable high enough to run 1440p360 on my monitor and my motherboard doesn’t have a displayport cable so I’m unable to test my iGPU, it still occurs with Nouveau (I think i installed it right anyways) and as for other applications it happens in the terminal when installing applications and you scroll through text, mpv and vlc when watching videos. This only happens in KDE as it doesn’t happen in gnome or cosmic alpha.

Hmm, it sounds like basically any scrolling-type activity causes it, then?

Just to double-check, booting using Nouveau shouldn’t involve installing anything since it’s built-in to the Linux kernel - it would just involve temporarily removing the rd.driver.blacklist=nouveau modprobe.blacklist=nouveau parameters from the kernel command line. But, the issue still occurs even when booted that way?

Am I reading correctly that you’re at a 360Hz refresh rate? Does the issue occur with the screen set to a lower refresh rate?

My bad, I tested it and removed it. Still the same result. But as for the hz if i go to 240hz I don’t have this issues only at 360hz does this issue appear in. I guess I’ll use 240hz for now, as this issue is a bit annoying. So thanks for the temporary fix.

Ah, so there must be some issue triggered by the extremely high refresh rate, then. When did you first start noticing it happen - right after installation, or after a particular event like a software upgrade?

I think after the 570 update for nvidia? Maybe the kde update I’m not sure.

Ah - yep, that would make sense based on these comments being made on the NVIDIA forums: 570 release feedback & discussion - #44 by andre_trekx - Linux - NVIDIA Developer Forums
