Reposted from Arch forums: I have an animated gif of tux the penguin and I want to set it as my user avatar in KDE plasma. I can’t find a single tutorial or anything on this topic. Does anybody have any idea how to? Also, quick note, KDE did take my animated gif, but only displayed the first frame, indicating that KDE thinks it is a non-animated gif.
That sounds like it’s just a bug that needs fixing.
Just saying, it’s not a bug, it’s a (missing) feature. The gif format can contain an animated gif or an image gif, and KDE plasma has been developed to take a gif as an image.

Ok, I probably should send a feature request
Please mention in the request an option to disable animation in avatars.
Fortunately my browser has such option and I can read this thread without irritation.
