Please help me, i tried to reboot few times but didn’t work. Thanks

EDIT: after reboot I can only use shell. Login is terminal like.

I had a similar situation a while ago using Debian-KDE

I found on a forum to reinstall : plasma-desktop plasma-workspace plasma-framework and reboot. It worked.

In your case, the errors are concerning Plasma Workspace. I would start by giving a shot at it.

How can I do this? Thanks in advance

First update and upgrade your system (that could help fixing)

sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade

then one of these…

sudo apt reinstall plasma-framework

or

sudo apt install --reinstall plasma-framework

it doesn’t work… some packages broke

well, this is it… take the axe and a big swing!!

try sudo apt reinstall kde-plasma-desktop

:crossed_fingers: that will reinstall the entire kit :crossed_fingers:

These are the problems. What is the solution? Thanks

Aille! Ok, for now it goes out of my direct knowledge of the situation. Some deeper researches will be needed. Not sure of the error message but it seems some dependencies can’t be installed?

Ok, i’m going to search deeper

I’ll be back home around noon EST. If it’s not fixed by then, I’ll continue checking on it!!

It could help to have a translation of the errors about the dependencies. maybe a permission issue somehow/somewhere? Not sure of this one, but, once upon a time, there was a difference using su mode and sudo command.

Please, help me. I don’t know how to solve. If you search with me i’ll actually appreciate it

have you added a repository source ppa that is introducing a dependency conflict?

what is the output of

ls /etc/apt/sources.list.d

what distro is this?

not sure enabling kubuntu backports is a good idea if you are not actually using kubuntu.

try disabling that in discover or your package manager and then doing

sudo apt update

sudo apt upgrade

and see if there are any unused packages

also perhaps restart and go to advanced options for your kernel and run the dpkg utility.

I’ll go with skyfishgoo, not sure Kubuntu backport is a good idea without having Kubuntu itself.

were you trying installing Kubuntu or Plasma on another distro?

Sorry for the delay, we’ve lost internet for over 12 hours yesterday.

are there regional URLs for the kubuntu repositories?

because i don’t recognize the ones OP are using.
