KDEConnect file upload prompt problem after update

I just updated from Ubuntu Jammy to Noble.
The KDEConnect version changed from 21.12.3 to 23.08.5.

In Jammy/21.12.3 the file upload prompt defaulted to $HOME/Desktop.
In Noble/23.08.5 it suddenly changed to $HOME/.

How can I change that default folder?

did you check your locations in settings?

just type “locations” anywhere on the desktop and go to the settings page that results.

Can you tell me in which config file this setting is stored?
I’m using KDEConnect on Xfce.

i cannot since i’m using KDE.

if you don’t have a ~/.config/user-dirs.dirs file with the settings then you will have to ask in a XFCE forum where this stuff is stored.

here is a tread on the topic that may help

the bind mount solution maybe be of particular interest to your situation.

if you don’t have a ~/.config/user-dirs.dirs file with the settings then you will have to ask in a XFCE forum where this stuff is stored.

I do have, but none of the XDG vars there lead to the plain $HOME. They all lead to $HOME/different_subdirs.

sounds like a bug in 23.08 then, because in 24.05 files go to the Downloads folder where they should according to XDG settings.

if that’s the latest build you have access to perhaps you can go back a version if there is more than one version in your noble repository

or you can add backports and likely get access to 24.05
