Forewarning that this is my first time daily driving linux so please keep jargon to a minimum!
Just built a new PC and am looking to transfer my games and other files from my Steam Deck. My PC is running kubuntu 24.10 and plasma 6.1.5. I would also like to use kdeconnect for other things on top of this if possible.
Both kdeconnect and warpinator aren’t able to detect the steam deck and vice versa, no matter what. They are all on the same network, firewall is disabled, and perplexingly, both are able to access and pair successfully with my android phone running kdeconnect.
I’ve tried fresh installs of both, tried messing with firewalls and checked the connect troubleshooting page to no avail. The only thing that might indicate an error is that running sudo netstat -tunelp | grep -i kdeconnect
in konsole returns absolutely nothing at all, no message, error, nothing, not even an acknowledgement that I ran the command.
The only potential fix i have found in my research is a post about a certification issue on askubuntu (forum won’t let me link) but this requires me to seriously downgrade openssl to an unsupported version which I obviously want to avoid. I found a post where someone used openvpn to run a different openssl version but to be frank, this is far above my entry-level technical knowledge and is a ridiculously complex fix for an issue that seems like it would have a more straightforward answer.
