I am unable to send files directly from my PC (Fedora Kinoite) to my ios device and android tablet.
On the android tablet, there is just an notification with the text “Failed receiving file from fedora”, but a very small percentage of the file was transferred (first few second of a video).
On ios, I get the error “No route to host”, with nothing transferred.
Other functionalities seems to work completely fine, I can send files from the other devices to my PC, send the clipboard back and forth, and control my PC with my devices.
Can someone help me troubleshoot this and see why this is happening? I already checked my firewall config to enable the ports for kdeconnect. I would love to provide logs for this but I can’t figure out where these logs may be.
I’m having the same problem with “Share file” from Fedora to Android (KDEConnect 24.12.0 on Fedora, KDE Connect 1.32.5 on Pixel 8 running Android 15). It used to work months ago. There’s no failure report on the sending side (a general problem with KDE Connect). You can configure where files sent to Linux go in System Settings > KDE Connect > [device] > Share and receive > [settings] > “Save files in”, but I don’t see the equivalent setting in KDE Connect for Android. I’m pretty sure filed received on Android used to be saved in Downloads or Download.
I tried adding access to an Android folder in KDE Connect for Android’s settings for “Filesystem expose” feature. Interestingly, if you navigate to “Download”, it says
Can’t use this folder.
To protect your privacy, choose another folder
I think this Android permission limitation is new, so maybe the bug is KDE Connect for Android’s “Share file” feature is still trying to put received files in Downloads and Android 15 tightened permissions!?
This same “Filesystem expose” setting in KDE Connect for Android does offer you a WORKAROUND: If you Add storage location (e.g. “Documents”) access permission, then from KDE Connect on Linux choose Browse this device, and in your file explorer on Linux you can (after a delay) see the contents of Documents on Android, and you can copy-paste or drag Linux files into it.
You can configure where Android receives the files in the plugin settings. You have to go to the device screen > click the triple dots on top right > Plugin settings > Share and Receive > Customize destination directory.
The issue I was experiencing somehow resolved itself. Maybe it was an issue due to my local connection.
The IOS app work flawlessly now, but now I have an issue with connecting my Samsung tablet to my laptop, where the connection drops after about 3 seconds. This happens for any connection (even just a simple http server). This only happens between my tablet and my PC, even on a separate connection, could be a obscure hardware issue. Would love any advice to diagnose this issue.
