My current installed/updated version of kdelinux is 202607120254, but this symptom has been present ever since i first installed, several months ago.
On the same pc, albeit a different SSD, i also have two installations of ArchLinux KDE Plasma; in both these the HW sensors, & SystemMonitor, work correctly, such that the symptoms are not present.
Re-running sudo sensors-detect, & then sensors, in kdelinux, does not solve the problem.
Symptom: in kdelinux only, the cpu temperature sensor detection or presentation, in SystemMonitor app, & the corresponding desktop widget, correctly reports the max temperature, but misreports the minimum temperature & the average temperature.
kdelinux:
ArchLinux [remember, this is the same physical pc]:
Is this a known issue? Is there any corrective action i can take as a mere user, or do i need the Devs to sprinkle their magic fairy dust? Thx.
Weird issue. If you can figure out what’s different about KDE Linux vs your Arch installation, that will be hugely helpful.
Just a possible lead - based on lm_sensors - ArchWiki , it looks like sensors-detect and the subsequent service that calls a modprobe command expect to be able to trigger additional kernel modules to be loaded as if it’s a standard Arch Linux install - if KDE Linux needs a different method for triggering additional kernel modules to be loaded, that might be the gap?
Thx Nate. Unfortunately atm i honestly don’t have much of an idea how i might do this “figure out”, i mean, i don’t understand the startling difference in behaviour of the two systems at all, only that presumably it has something to do with immutability… clearly that is not helpful.
If i had observed this big difference across two different pcs, then maybe discovering the root cause might be easier because the HW would be different, but not so here… it’s the same single pc, all the same HW, only that one Arch is on sda, another on sdb, & kdelinux on sdc.

Thx! I shall
this might give the Devs a vital clue!
Given i still have no idea how i can troubleshoot this obvious bug, and given the false Minimum of zero degrees also falsifies the calculated Average, til some new idea emerges it seems advisable i edit my config of this widget to display only the cpu Maximum temperature, but not those wrong others.
