Starting kdenlive-23.08.4-x86_64-A.AppImage on openSuse Tumbledweed, it detects a a crash of the last session, and asks to Reset of Continue.
Choosing Reset reports .config/kdenlive-appimagerc is removed, and then nothing happens; the opening graphic remains on the screen.
Choosing Continue gives a whole bunch of text in the terminal, but no real error messages. After that, it hangs indefinitely, too.
23.08.2 has the same behavior.
Any idea what causes, and how to overcome this?
No one here who can shed a light on this problem?
Please post here what you get on the terminal while starting up Kdnelive. Which openSuse Tubmbledweed do you have?
Did you ever get it running normally?
Did you try the version of your SUSE-system (installed regular via your system-installer)?

Tumbleweed is a rolling distro, with several snapshots every week. I usually keep it outdated by no more than about a week. In all the snapshots of the last few weeks, the kdenlive behavior is the same.
I use kdenlive regularly for more than 6 years, without big problems. Last few years using the appimage, before that the distro version.
At this moment, while the kdenlive version from the distro as such is up-to-date (23.08.4-1.1); the distro says kdenlive has a dependency of libmlt-7, but when I start this distro version from the command line, it does not start, complaining about missing libmlt6:

After issuing the command, I get the question visible in the screenshot. No matter what I answer, after that the image stays there for quite a while, without issuing new messages on the terminal. Eventually, it stops, issuing the last three lines on the terminal.
I can start kdenlive in English, if the Dutch language is difficult to follow.

I think this is a problem in your sys/distro.
Is there some app keeping (and blocking it) at mlt6?
AFAIK the actual kdenlive is using mlt7.
Maybe the distro-version has some bug in the dependencies?
Hmm, it appears an old kdenlive version was hanging around in /usr/local/bin, and " which kdenllve" showed that version was used. So I removed that, and now the complaint about libmlt6 is gone. As said, I did not use the distro version in the last years…

First thing, while we are now talking about the distro version, the first post was about the app image, which shows the same behavior. And the appimage brings its own libraries, I understand.
I’m not sure what you mean by “check/cleanup your whole KDE-environment”. In earlier attempt to get rid of the problem, I removed all kdenlive stuff in .config, but that did not help then, and it does not help now.
Or have I misunderstood what you meant?

I think, I understand well…
I’m running here Manjaro/XFCE, i.e. non-KDE. And found, the appimage doesn’t bring along everything needed (KDE-stuff etc.).
So I installed my release-version of kdenlive, that’s pulling down everything needed.
But I did a fresh install for kdenlive and it is working well.
What I think is, your install runs some old & some new components and your sys-installer does not keep everything in line / or clean.
But I am far away and my glass-ball isn’t as large as needed…
In the meantime, I downloaded kdenlive-24.02.0-RC-x86_64.AppImage,
and this version functions OK.
