Kdenlive 24.08 is out, and while summer is usually a quieter time for the team, this update comes packed with nifty new features, enhancements, and quality-of-life improvements, specially for Effects and Transitions. This version boosts performance in sequence playback and timeline preview rendering, improves handling of transcoding issues when importing large amounts of clips, adds…
Kdenlive Portable
Is there any chance of a Kdenlive Portable being released for USB memory stick use, please?
I currently use Kdenlive on two home-built commuters, one running Ubuntu Studio, and the other running Windows 11 Home.
Kind regards
Paul
Umh… tried the multiple transform “thing” without touching the timeline…
but well… no idea on how works… but i can’t select anyone of the clips directly on project monitor
also ALT+click seems doing nothing.
Do you mean the standalone version for Windows and the appimage for Linux?
I can confirm the issue. Cycling with alt+click seems only to be working with color clips.
Unfortunately, the error that the AVFilters do not work has not yet been fixed in the current version 24.08.0 as an AppImage or flatpak.
bug 491073
I looked at the link to bug 491073 you mentioned and it turns out that this bug also affects Shotcut video editor as well. It must be an MLT bug or a Qt6 bug.
Hi, i’ve been working with kdenlive since a while ago, i love the program and what is capable of. But i just wanna know if there is any chance to add a few ways to apply some effects to the subtitles? Like some of the most popular animated subtitles out there? Everything else has been incredible, some crashes sometimes, but i’m glad with the program
using latest nighlty build for Windows. (Installer)
Yes, I suspect that too, and I heard on the Shotcut forum weeks ago that this bug would be fixed in the next version. Let’s wait and see and look forward to Kdenlive being as good as it was before.
I have just tried it out: With an MLT update to 7.26, the error with the AVFilters is still the same.
Hi, and welcome to the forum and community, @Mago!
Kdenlive will support the ASS subtitle format soon (perhaps next release 24.12) which give you much more control over subtitle formatting. Until then it is not possible above and beyond the current formatting.
Will be added particle effect in future version of kdenlive?
Don’t think so as it’s not on the roadmap. And Kdenlive is a video editor first and foremost, not a VFX tool.
Hi [berndmj, the portable Kdenlive was always a Windows version that uses a USB memory stick.
I was wondering if there will be a portable version with this newly released version of Kdenlive.
There is also a portable version of the GIMP, as an example.
Thank you for your reply.
Kdenlive stores by default some of the data on the user folder and it’s kind of hard coded. This is the same for Linux, Windows and Mac. So each user on a PC has their own Kdenlive setup.
To have a complete portable version we would have to find a way to collect this data and store it on USB-drive and once connected to a new PC distribute the data to the correct place. Such an approach is not planned at the moment.
and how third party integration could be possible added particle effect?
Look at the Kdenlive roadmap. Particle Effects could fall under the OpenFGX support topic listed under Long Term. And long term means a few years, so I wouldn’t hold my breath for it.
Proxy Files Complete (file manager folder) - Jobs Running (Not Responding) on Software is still present I’m afraid.
