So before I report a bug, I wanted to check if maybe it is just user-error because I see others able to use it but it doesn’t work for me.
I can import and edit subtitles just fine. They just never display. They don’t display on preview windows or when rendering.
My initial thought is possibly some driver display conflict or I just didn’t set it up correctly.
My GPU hardware is Radeon 7900xtx. I’m currently still running 25.10 but will soon be migrating to the 26.04.1. Timeline preview is set to x264-vaapi. (not sure what else you might need)
Anyone else run into this problem or have some suggestions for me?
I’ve never worked with subtitles before in Kdenlive, but I just tried it, and it worked just fine for me. Could you show a screenshot of your timeline, please?
Wanna see if you did what I did.
Apart from importing a subtitle, which I thought would have been just like importing media (it’s not for anyone who doesn’t know), editing and viewing subtitles on the timeline and in the viewport seem straightforward.
Kdenlive version: 26.08.0
Timeline Preview: Automatic - NVIDIA in my case
I installed via SNAP before. I tried the Appimage and it works there. So it is a problem with the SNAP version. Thank you Eugen. I’m going to uninstall the SNAP version and stay with the AppImage edition.
Yes. I’m on Linux. I figured anyone who would post on the KDE forums would be running Linux.
For specific OS, I’m on Kubuntu 25.10.
