A question on the MLT github about potentially fixing movit has been posted and presumably one of the devs has responded that GPU timeline acceleration should work as the library has been fixed.
Can we expect gpu timeline acceleration on kdenlive in the near future? It is hard to work with 4k video using only software acceleration and proxy clips (particularly when color grading) particularly on a laptop with a discrete gpu from 2021. Color grading in particular is impossible with proxy clips since I cannot see the result properly without rendering it and that is really slow.
But if you’re somehow expecting it will magically make an underpowered system make an unoptimised workflow be something that works like magic … then you should probably get your best disappointment suit dry-cleaned now.
You don’t generally need real-time playback for most colour grading.
