Kdenlive not finding FFmpeg on Windows

I’m trying to use Kdenlive 24.05.2 on Windows 11. When I first start the program, I get an error message warning me about a missing module related to FFmpeg:

And because of this I can’t import any video (I’ve tried MP4 and WEBM). I have FFmpeg installed, and it appears that Kdenlive ships with it on Windows.

Things that I’ve tried that didn’t help:

  • Reinstalling Kdenlive
  • Deleting the cache files and then reinstalling
  • Trying 24.02.2 and a nightly version (24.11.70)
  • Trying the standalone version of 24.05.2
  • Copying an install of Kdenlive 24.05.1 from another machine where everything works correctly

However, the Kdenlive 23.08.5 standalone version works correctly.

Looks like this issue has already been reported.

In short, it’s a problem in the Windows package.

Mmh. This is strange. Specially on Windows. Please try the following: Delete folder C:\Program Files\kdenlive and install Kdenlive again.
