Kdenlive to replace videopad

I’m trying to learn how to edit in Kdenlive, so I can start using linux and stop using Videopad/Windows.

But I have some questions:

  1. Is it possible to add a button to the monitor, that moves the playhead to the beginning of the project. (Ctrl+Home)
  2. Can I configure the timeline so, that it moves everything to the left when a part of a clip gets deleted? Basically removing “blank” space.
  3. How do I edit the audio volume of a clip, or is everything automatically normalized on export.

These are the question I got at the moment, but I’m sure there will be more :slight_smile:

Hi and welcome to the community.

  1. You can’t change the UI, so adding buttons to the monitors is not possible. But you can use keyboard shortcuts.

  2. Use the Extract Clip function. It works like Ripple Delete

  3. Add the Volume audio effect to a clip or the audio track

Since you are new to Kdenlive, I strongly recommend to read the Kdenlive Manual, play around with it to get a feel for it, and search for Kdenlive tutorials on YouTube that help you get started.
