Kdenlive UI shows lag when loading a project

you can see in this video the behavior:

the UI is very unresponsive, even when hovering over the icons kdenlive takes a lot of time to react.
Any ideas?

Why is your mouse pointer switching to a hand when hovering over the monitor controls? Mine doesn’t do that (I’m on Pop!_OS and using the 25.04 Kdenlive Flatpak).

I think it is part of the problem, it takes time to switch from the hand to the arrow… very slow responsiveness

So you changed something in the (system) settings of your distro or DE, right?

I haven’t and I don’t experience the same delay in mouse pointer changes. Very snappy UI responsiveness here.

The only area where a hand is used in Kdenlive is when hovering over clips in the timeline to indicate something can be dragged. Everywhere else the mouse point is just an arrow, no pointing index fingers or anything. So I reckon you changed something in your settings or use a widget for your mouse pointers which may cause the delay.

Yes I have changed settings in my system, but I am using the default theme with KDE breeze cursors.

Try switching from Wayland to X11. There were other reports about strange UI behavior, and Wayland was found to be the culprit …

ok. I will try… but anyway… X11 AFAIK is kinda obsolete/abandoned so probably it’s worth it to solve any wayland problems that might arise
