KDevelop crashing on Windows 11 when opening a project

Hello everyone,

I recently wanted to try out KDevelop on Windows 11 and installed it. However, whenever i try to open or create a project, the program just hangs and crashes without any errors.
The project i was trying to open was just a “Hello World” program with a 3 line CMakeLists.txt.
I installed KDevelop with the nightly 64-bit build, but have also tried using chocolatey (same issue). I also tried to find a log file or something but was unsuccessful.

I’m on Windows 11 (hope this isn’t an issue since it seems like this forum is more focused on Linux) and tried the latest version from the download section Version 6.3.250770 (25.07.70).

This definitely happens. I was incredibly excited when I saw that a new Windows binary had been released, but then, when I tried it, all those positive emotions made a complete 180.
Because it is unusable, it enters a busy deadlock as soon as a project is initiated.
I removed some plug-ins and added a project to a different session, and then I succeeded in making it work temporarily, but the background parser didn’t work no matter what I tried, and the tabs are not persistent across sessions. Before I started finding other bugs, I just installed 5.6.2 again and called it a night.. :frowning:
Now I am not saying KDevelop is a bug feast, 5.6.2 is quite stable (just one critical bug discovered over the years of abuse). Such a great C IDE under Windows deserves attention, in my opinion.
