Kioworker closes unexpectedly

When I click on Recent Places or Recent Locations in Dolphin, I get a Loading canceled and a “kioworker closed unexpectedly” message.

I don’t really know what may have happened or when it happened for the problem to come back, thinking that I used to have this error in connection to clicking on the Trash folder, but that one has been solved.

I have an installation of TUXEDO OS in a VM and there there is no problem there. However, the VM installation doesn’t have all the software that is installed in my main system.

Hi - when that crash happens, are you prompted to and able to submit a crash report?

It sounds a little bit like this bug, possibly - 486697 – kioworker crashes in TrashImpl::readInfoFile() when opening Dolphin or moving items to Trash when any trashinfo files have relative paths - but the fact that it’s happening in places other than the Trash might mean it’s subtly different.

I’m prompted to submit a crash report and to restart the application. I did send an automatic crash report.

There has been a development since I posted here. I deleted all my history in Settings > Recent Files and after a restart the kioworker popups stopped appearing. It’s probably too early to see if the problem has been resolved, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

EDIT: After a day’s worth of using Dolphin, I confirm the following. Recent Files: There’s a loading message in the Window and then it stops. At the same time I get the kioworker message. Recent Locations: It reports that there are no recently used items.
