Kioworker errors when deleting to Trash

After updating my OS to TUXEDO 4 if I try to delete a file from an external drive I get a Dolphin Error “The process for the trash protocol died unexpectedly”. Also there’s a kioworker bug report popup “Kioworker Closed Unexpectedly”.

If I delete a file using Shift-Delete the error doesn’t come up. Possibly because Trash is being bypassed. Deletions from the command line are also not problematic.

The problem affects only one of my external drives.

EDIT: The kioworker popup comes up every time I click on the Dolphin Trash icon or even if I press F5 to refresh!

It’s probably best to report this as a bug.

I’m 9.575% sure this is 486697 – kioworker crashes in TrashImpl::readInfoFile() when opening Dolphin or moving items to Trash when any trashinfo files have relative paths.

I was getting ready to report a bug, but I’m not sure if the link that you posted applies in my case. The problem appeared after I upgraded to TUXEDO OS 4. Previously there was no problem. In my case simply clicking on the Trash icon is enough to bring up the kioworker closed unexpectedly message. Also deletion of files from a particular external drive is no more possible. Deletion works with files on other drives.

Should I report a new bug or only acknowledge the error on the existing bug report?

No need to post a comment there.

The issue with being unable to delete files on an external disk seems unrelated and different, though. I don’t think that’s the same thing as the bug report I linked to.

Thank you. I’ll leave things be although the situation is a bit irritating.

As regards the deletion of files from the external drive, it’s a shame because it worked with the previous version of TUXEDO. Perhaps I should reach out to them for any support.

Definitely reaching out to them makes sense.

Thanks, I’ll contact them. However, after further testing I think that the problem is to do with the specific external drive. Trash in Dolphin works normally until I connect that drive. Then the problem with the kioworker begins.

The only suspect application that uses that drive is my Plex Media Server. I’ll see if I can disable it and test Dolphin again.

EDIT: I solved it! In the hidden folder /media/myname/backups/.Trash-1000/files/ of the external drive there was a folder that I knew that I deleted it earlier. I managed to delete it and then I had to act as root to actually delete it entirely from Trash. After doing this the problem with the kioworker is gone. I’ll test it again after a restart…

EDIT 2: Whatever the reason was, I confirm that the problem is solved.
