Kmymoney import csv file - invalid date format

Hello

I have read all what was writed about import csv file and invalid date format, but nothing help.

The imported csv file from my bank has in the first column this date format : 24/03/2026.

During the import, i have selected date “ j m a” and have press “next” button.

And a message inform me : “invalid date format”.

What can i do ?

Thanks in advance for your help

Is that format valid for every row to be imported? Do you need to adjust the header and footer rows?

As step through import wizard you can see on the last page each field that will be imported shown in green. I would assume that something you expect to import is not green.

Check that you are excluding any headed and footer lines.
Make sure you do not check the Skip Setup button so that you see all the wizard pages.

Yes, this format is valid for each line to import.
There are no header or footer lines in the selection.

First, I tried to import the csv file from my bank directly into kmymoney.
On the invalid date format message, I imported this file into libreoffice and then saved it under a new name in csv.
I tried to import the new csv file into kmymoney and the same answer: invalid date format.
During the import into libreoffice, no errors.

I never ignore the configuration assistants, especially when I’m doing something new.
Not everything is green: column 1 (the dates) is red. Everything else is green.
Header and footer lines are not in the selection.

I had omitted to give you my configuration

Hello,
could you post an anonymized screenshot of the step 5 of the CSV import wizard?

I did a try with your date format (DD/MM/YYYY) and the column is green in KMyMoney CSV import wizard:

and in the CSV source file you can see the values in the date format on rows 19 and 20:

KMyMoney Version 5.2.1-2277a9b (AppImage) on Debian bookworm.

If the columns is shown in red, then at least one of the dates is not in the proper format. Unfortunately, as far as I can tell, the whole column gets marked red, not just the individual bad values. You might try opening the csv file in LibreOffice to see if it has any problem with one or more values in that column.

Here you have the result.

In blue; the select aera.

In red : the first cell.

You can’t see the end of the file : it has 229 lines.

If you suggest to cancel the first line in the csv file, i don’t known how to proceed.

The file is given from the bank.

I would start small. Extract the first few lines from the file and see if the problem persists. Also, can you please provide a screenshot of page 4 (Colonnes)?

Many thanks for the screenshot, it helps to understand where the issue may be.

  1. what have you set here (step 3)? In my example i tell the software that the first meaningful row (the one with column header) is row #17: In your screenshot, it seems that you have not hidden the row #1
  2. I suggest you to use a light tool to mask your personal data and numbers, e.g. using ksnip (ksnip · GitHub)

To all

I have found how to solve the problem but it is not practical !

I have import the csv file issuing from the bank into Libreoffice.

Then i have cancelled the first line with the headers in Libreoffice.

After this, i have saved the new file of libreoffice in a new csv file.

And now, that works !

It seems the import plugin don’t like the line of headers, even if they are not part of the selected aera.

The question is how to have a csv file without headers

I never checked “the header contains the name or account number” because there is none in my file.

I have ignored it.

I will try again with this step.

Now, the import was with success !

Many thank for good idea !

I was not referring to this parameter.
I was referring to “ligne de début”. In your case I would write “2” instead of “1” here. This should make kmymoney ignore the column headers of your csv file read by kmymoney.
