KMyMoney V5.1.3 for MacOS 5.1.3 with KBanking plugin not showing Aqbanking under settings

Dear KMyMoney Team, for some reason the KBanking plugin is not properly enabled in the Version 5.1.3-18022f315 downloaded some weeks ago. No Aqbanking is visual under settings as described in docu (see screenshots attached). How may I enable it? I enabled disabled the plugin, restarted the application many times without luck. I also tried with build 5.1.3-fa1eab719, no luck also.
Can someone help me to understand how to activate the module in KMyMoney? It should be supported.
I am using MacOSX Ventura 13.4.1 (22F82) on a MacBook Pro with Chip Apple M2 Pro

You are right that it should be supported and enabled by default. When you say “I enabled disabled the plugin,” what exactly did you do? If you mean in the Plugins tab of the Configure KMyMoney dialog, was it enabled when you first looked?
Can you launch KMyMoney from command line? If so, look at the output, especially the section on finding and installing plugins. See if there is any relevant message there.

[EDIT} I see this is what Thomas said in Issue #75 that you opened on Invent. In the future, please only use a single venue for asking for help. Whichever one you choose, someone on the team will see it soon enough. Having the same discussion in multiple places just adds to the confusion.

hello @ostroffjh, thanks for your feedback! It was not my intention to confuse by opening two threads. I thought this first one would not reach the KMyMoney team. Won’t happen again
Regarding meaning “I enabled disabled the plugin,” I meant after installation manually disabling KBanking plugin > restarting app > manually enabling KBanking plugin > restarting app > checking if I can access Aqbanking under settings.
I can’t find in documentation topic how to start KMyMoney from MacOSX command line and how to force output display, can you give me specifics or link the documentation?
I will post all info I can get.

I started macOS console.app and executed KMyMoney.app. Log is longer, but clearly there is an entry that states the following:

Discuss is relatively knew to the list of support channels for KDE, but
similar to the other existing ones, it may take a few days before
someone responds to a question. That’s unfortunately the nature of
free software and a small team.
There is nothing special about KMyMoney, so you can do a general search
about running an aplication from command line on MacOS. As a start, in
the Finder, open /Applications/Utilities and double click Terminal.
(This is from a google search.) In the Terminal, just type “kmymoney”
and hit Enter. The only question is whether it will find the program
or complain it doesn’t know what you want. In that case, you would
need to type the full path to the kmymoney executable file. I’ll leave
it to you to search on how to find it, but search for a general
solution, not specifically for KMyMondy.

There is no need to “enable” any output. KMyMoney (like most programs)
outputs all sorts of basic diagnostic/status information when it runs.
Most of the time, that just gets ignored when you launch by clicking
the icon. Part of the output will be about finding and loading
plugins. Look for any messages about kbanking.

So, at least we know KMyMoney is having trouble initializing the
plugin, but we don’t know why. Is there anything that looks relevant
in the 10 to 100 lines before that in the log?

I’m also now wondering if you might be missing some dependency. From
where did you download the package? Have you tried the one from
https://binary-factory.kde.org/view/MacOS/job/KMyMoney_Release_macos/lastStableBuild/

Hey @ostroffjh, thanks for your answer. Not to be a wise ass, but I know my way around Terminal just typing “kmymoney” and hit Enter will not work in MacOS. Rather starting app using the open cmd will, but I don’t get any error messages like that. I also checked man page, but there is no verbose option like in linux. This is why I asked for some specifics how to execute from Terminal with error messages.
Then I checked Console app, I didn’t see any specifics in the 10 to 100 lines before that mentions plugin KBanking (made som searches in the logs).
I downloaded the app from the official URL kmymoney.org > KMyMoney_Release_macos #1840 [Jenkins]
So I didn’t do any “funny” stuff. Seems to me that maybe the dependencies have not been build correctly in the build? (just an assumption).

@ostroffjh I checked the building logs in KMyMoney_Release_macos #1802 Console [Jenkins] and see a lot of warnings regarding the building dependencies of kbanking.so
Maybe relevant.

All that output is from MacOS, not from KMyMoney itself. You are
correct that you are not seeing the stdout output of the program, which
MacOS is probably just tossing in the trash. Take a look at
How to Open Applications Using Terminal on Mac: 12 Steps to see
if the suggestion 7 will get you that output. It’s likely to be at
least as voluminous as what you posted.

I don’t know if the failing builds is related to your problem or not, but I’ve started trying to track down the cause of the build problems. For now, lets see if we can find out why kbanking is not getting loaded.

The message “Could not initialize KBanking online banking interface” is coming from the plugin itself. That means, KBanking was loaded and code in it could be executed. AqBanking on the other hand was loaded but could not be initialized. The reason has to be found out.

The (currently) failing builds have nothing to do with it, though. Looking at the MacOS summary page of the binary factory I see a lot of them failing but for various reasons.

AqBanking does not get build because the libbrotlienc library is not found (anymore) when running xmlmerge. I don’t know, what causes this to start on 7/7/23 (so just a few days ago).

xmlmerge is a utility which is build as part of libgwenhywfar (a companion to AqBanking). On the first failing, AqBanking was not found by craft

but libgwenhywfar was found installed (maybe from cache):

On the day before, craft (the build system) did not build AqBanking but must have found it in its cache because it was found and KBanking was also build.

They may be installed, but are not found. So where is the dir.so file in your filesystem?

I wonder, why it prints

No AqBanking config folder found at [/Users/erkuerbs/.aqbanking/settings/users and
Could not create ConfigMgr[dir:///Users/erkuerbs/.aqbanking/settings6]

in the logs then. Can you try to run the following commands in the terminal session (command line) before you start KMyMoney in it?

pwd
echo $HOME
export GWEN_LOGLEVEL=debug
export AQBANKING_LOGLEVEL=debug

These settings are temporary for the terminal session. I am interested in the output in the terminal from entering the above commands until the application prints the line containing

Could not initialize KBanking online banking interface
