The sticky notes widget is not a good replacement for knotes btw. I was used to sticking notes all over my desktop if necessary. Creating a widget all the time is very annoying, also the widget is on all virtual desktops. I guess if I want them only on one desktop I have to start using activities? Not a great solution at all.
I get your frustration. I also like to have stickies on the desktop. Furthermore, I like to shade them so they’re within a quick reach, with a visible title, but they don’t take up a lot of space. I use a little app for that on Windows, Zhorn Stickies:
But I failed to find a satisfactory equivalent for Linux yet. XPad is close, but window shade doesn’t work in Wayland and seems to be borked now in X11 too. The stickies plasmoid is not an alternative either, I agree.
If I ever mange to actually switch my main PC to Linux I’m gonna change my strategy it seems, unless something comes along by then. I spent hours searching for a solution to this.
Thanks for the hint, I totally agree with you. I’ll now consider copy/pasting all my notes to xpad. When we think about a notes app, we definitely think of sticky notes, the ones we stick on a screen’s border or a fridge. MarkNote is an exercise around the markdown language, very well done, and can yet be perfected to sticky notes.
