KOrganizer to do items don't generate pop ups

I would very much like KOrganizer to generate pop up reminders for tasks I add to the “to do” list in KOrganizer but unfortunately I can’t find any setting to turn reminders on. I’ve found old web pages on various sites that talk about ways to do this but none of these are appearing on my version. (e.g. - system settings; personalisation (there seems to be no such setting) - “Start Reminders at Login” (there seems to be no such setting) - go into Advanced settings (there seems to be no Advanced section)

I don’t sync my KOrganizer with webmail such as gmail or outlook as I would like my tasks to be kept private

I am using Debian 12.8 (stable) and MATE as my graphical user interface

Many thanks in advance for any help

When you set up a task in KOrganiser, open the “Reminder” tab:

Thanks Paul! I forgot to mention that I had done that. I added the reminder and then clicked the “+Add” button but unfortunately it doesn’t generate pop up reminders

Hmmm… It did for me:

Maybe you have notifications inhibited or something?

Thanks a lot for that Paul, and that’s good to know that KDE Organiser is definitely capable of generating pop ups. I don’t know why it’s not doing it for me. Perhaps it has something to do with Debian or MATE. I have gone through all the menus up the top and nothing seems to fix the problem. I can’t find anything under Settings or “Configure KOrganizer” that enables me to turn notifications on or off either. There is nothing that I could find mentioning notifications (other than the reminder tab which I definitely added reminders to using the add reminder button)

Very annoying. I cannot reproduce your error, as I am on Plasma. Maybe try on Plasma and see if it is the same? There could be some sort of incompatibility in how MATE processes notifications.

when i tested my install, i notice the reminder pop up is based on the END of the task, not the start like it is for a calendar event.

if you set it for “all day”, you wouldn’t see a popup until midnight, or the next day if you machine was asleep.
