Since Plasma 6.7, the desktop now has type-ahead selection of files (typing some letters to select the items starting with what you typed), so it’s now a selection in the desktop folder settings.
Right click on the desktop, select the “Desktop and Wallpaper” option and select “Selects item” here:

is this only available when using Folder View layout, or does it present you with a different alternative to krunner when using Desktop layout from the Wallpaper tab?
because prior to this, you could deactivate krunner from the krunner config regardless of which layout you choose.
Thanks for pointing it out. I just did some testing and when using the Desktop layout, it reverts back to launching KRunner and I didn’t find a place to disable it…
