After upgrading Ubuntu to 24.10, Krusader (version 2.8.1) forgot how to connect via SFTP/FISH. All possible kio
packages are installed, but the required protocols are still missing.
Is there anything else I am missing?

Krusader is still using KDE Frameworks 5 and therefore needs the kio-extras package for KF5. I’m not sure if that is available for Ubuntu 24.10.
The port to KF6 will come with the next release version 2.9.0.
It’s already installed, I’m afraid
$ sudo apt list kio-extras
kio-extras/oracular,now 4:24.08.1-0ubuntu2 amd64 [installed]
That is the KF6 version.
On Arch Linux you can install the KF6 and KF5 versions in parallel (kio-extras
, kio5-extras
). I don’t know about Ubuntu/Debian.
Hi there!
Is there any news about when the new version 2.9.0 will be released? It’s very inconvenient to use other software instead of Krusader
Krusader 2.9.0 “Sixth Life” has already been released, see Krusader - Twin panel file management for your desktop.
I ran into a similar issue after upgrading Ubuntu a while ago. What worked for me was reinstalling the kio-extras
package, which I did with the command sudo apt-get install --reinstall kio-extras
. It helped fix the missing protocols. Also, I checked Krusader’s settings under “Configure Krusader” > “Network” > “KIO Slave” to make sure everything was enabled. After that, everything connected fine again.
