I recently did a full upgrade to debian trixie - now kwallet appears somewhat out of function:
Although kwalletd6 shows up at "ps aux”, and kwalletmanager5 correctly reads the old kdewallet.kwl several programs - until now found signal-desktop, and kdrc - fail to read or write the wallet.
signal-desktop even has a dedicated error message:
(Database error: Access to the keys for encrypting the database is not possible because the encryption keyring backend has been changed from kwallet5 to kwallet6. This can occur when the desktop environment changes, for example from GNOME to KDE. Please switch to the previous desktop environment or try running Signal with the command line option --password-store=“kwallet5”. [Copy error and exit])
(With this command-line argument, signal-desktop runs well as expected.)
Kdrc simply fails to store and read passwords for connections.
Any idea as to reasons (or even solutions)?
