For the past month, my laptop (Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Pro 16ARH7) has been experiencing a very irritating sleep issue.
About half the time it goes to sleep after a normal amount of time and wakes up normally, and the other half it takes an extra 10-15 seconds to fall asleep, then doesn’t wake up at all, forcing me to hold the power button to force shutdown. I’ve also noticed the fan doesn’t stop spinning when this happens.
This doesn’t happen on Windows 11, only on KDE Neon, and it didn’t happen until about a month ago (it first happened 17 July 2024). It happens both with closing the lid and using systemctl suspend
.
Does anyone know what the cause for this could be? Its a bit stressful not knowing whether or not everything I haven’t saved will be lost every time I close my laptop.
I did a quick search online and it seems several people are experiencing the same issue with that laptop model, irrespective of OS or desktop.
Neon has not woken up from sleep properly since Plasma 6 on my desktop rig. It basically hangs, forcing a reboot. Even just the screen locker now takes about 30 seconds to display the password box. Using Nv555.
