Latest update broke plasma6

Updated on 3 Feb. Boot and login work fine, but that takes me to a black screen with a cursor. I’m guessing it’s the RC2 update.

Bummer.

Do you have an NVIDIA GPU?

I have the same problem. I did the updates a few hours ago and after logging in the screen is just black with the mouse pointer.

I took a screenshot from journalctl of a symbol lookup error, which seems to be what’s causing the issue.

I have a Radeon RX 6600 GPU and a Ryzen 5 5500 processor.

Not the greatest screenshot. I can try to get more info if you need it.

That particular symbol lookup error was caused by Use correct prefix SVG prefix for tooltips (!1017) · Merge requests · Plasma / KDE Plasma Framework · GitLab, which was fixed later the same day. I think Arch just happened to snapshot the repo during the hour when it was broken. Hopefully a rebuild with today’s sources will fix it.

I’m using KDE Neon (Testing Edition). Maybe I should do a clean install and see if it still breaks.

Edit: I switched repos from testing to unstable which made it work again. Next time a testing ISO drops I’ll do a clean install.

The same happens with my KDEneon testing installation.
I have freshly installed the version and it was still working until the updates.
My PC is equipped with an onboard Intel GPU.

Well bummer, I guess I’ll either do a fresh load or at this point just wait till production release. It’s been a few years since I’ve loaded/tried KDE and there’s a lot to like in 6.0, but the touch pad gesture response on my laptop is really bad.

See what an update provides tomorrow. A fix may show up by then. You’ll just have to do it from the tty.

Upated via TTY and desktop is back!
Reverted to a lot of default settings, but that’s fine. RC after all.
I really appreaciate an active support forum.
