I installed the latest KDE Neon ISO from July on a Dell XPS 9300 in a dual-boot setup with Windows using GRUB; everything works, even the camera. That’s a change from the bugs I encountered—the camera and fingerprint reader were incompatible with the same ISO on a Latitude 9420
Speaking of the Latitude 9420, I’ve reported issues such as Discover triggering the “USB storage” notification, the password error without any input when logging in after waking from hibernation, and—most surprisingly—none of these issues occur on the XPS 9300 with the same ISO, same kernel, and Plasma…?
So Linux isn’t compatible with all hardware; it lags behind Windows in this area, as demonstrated by these two devices.
I’d still like to point out that the Discover bug and the “USB storage” notification now appear less frequently and more randomly.
I’m waiting for the release of KDE Plasma 6.7.5 and the new version of Discover to see if these bugs are fixed—or if there are more?

Tell me, is it normal for the taskbar to appear with a slight delay of at least 2 seconds after opening a session? Usually, the desktop, applications, and even everything else… appear before it, right? If there’s one thing we need right away, it’s the taskbar—so what can we do to improve this?
I’m bringing this up because the Windows taskbar appears instantly—no lag.
I’ve also noticed that, overall, Plasma and everything that runs on it… isn’t exactly smooth. I’d say Plasma 6.6.X was better.
I had the wrong password bug a while back. I’m running Plasma 6.7.5 and they’ve fixed a lot of things. Plasma 6 was totally rewritten and 6.0 was missing features and had a lot of bugs. With each release they’re improving it over past Plasma versions.
You should have 6.7.5 now. I got it on 9-9-2026. Always post what you’re running. kinfo is an easy way to get it.

Here’s my setup. The bug where it asks for an incorrect password after waking from hibernation has been around since Plasma 6.7.X; I’ve never had that before, just like the bug with Discover that displays the “USB storage” notification. Personally, I find Plasma 6.7.X less responsive than before—it’s not a big deal, but it’s definitely noticeable.

I’m at a loss as to what this thread is about. Is it a rant or do you seek to resolve some issue? You seem to have raised several issues that have been posted about in other threads, but not linked to them.
Please understand this is a support forum where many come to find answers for problems they are also having. Following forum community etiquette and keeping one thread per topic, and including a subject line that is informative of the problem is vital for others to find solutions to similar problems they may be having. Linux and KDE are community projects and one must always consider the wider community, you should give no less than you take.
Your understanding of Linux and the many layers within a linux distribution are fundamentally flawed with this comment. The issues you have mentioned are not hardware compatibility issues.
That’s exactly why I’m here! To help the community as best I can. Sure, I sometimes go a little overboard or make too many comparisons… but I’m still diligent about sharing information. With my limited experience with Linux, what’s frustrating is reading nonsensical answers. I’d like to see a little more commitment and seriousness from this community. We need to understand that helping others means giving our time for the benefit of everyone.
One advice to be sure you don’t experience what’s called “ghost bugs”, try to always create a new clean user and test if it’s reproducible with it, because many ambiguous and hard to reproduce bugs come after major upgrades of Plasma desktop and from the old user config files.
Well, guess what—the problem with unlocking the screen after waking from sleep also occurs on another Dell model running the Neon Plasma 6.7.2 or 6.7.3 ISO from July or June. Another example: I kept the Neon Plasma 6.6.X ISO, and there’s no problem there. So the question is, why?
Conclusion: There’s no need to test with another user account—it’s already been tested on a different machine. One is an XPS 9300, the other a Latitude 9420; both are up to date with BIOS, TPM, etc.
And as a reminder for those who haven’t been following, none of this happens with KDE Neon Plasma 6.5.5 and kernel 6.13.
