In the bottom-right of the kdenlive window we can see a zoom slider. Or at least we can usually see it. The reason it disappears?
If you have a file name with a longer name than usual, the zoom slider will not show: select a clip with a long file name and it’s gone: the text of the long file name takes precedence over the zoom slider! It really shouldn’t. The text should be truncated & the zoom slider should never disappear. Zooming in and out can still be accomplished with Ctrl+ and Ctrl- but it’s ‘hidden’ and unfriendly to newbies.
