Longer/Multiple Fingerprint Registration

Hello,

Fingerprint registration workflow is unsuitable for folks with large hands/fingerprints.

  • The registration session is very short, limiting the amount of surface area which can be captured.
  • The registration tool supports only one fingerprint registration per finger.

On other systems, I’ve gotten best results with fingerprint auth by registering a single finger multiple times. For example, one focusing on a ‘flat’ fingerprint presentation, with another where the fingerprint is at an angle.

Alternatively, it would be nice if a fingerprint capture session could be any amount of presses, with a ‘Complete’/Save button present on the window. This would allow the user to capture their entire fingerprint.

For now, I’ll try recording my fingerprint as another finger as well.

NOTE: Using all of the fingers (on the registration screen) to register my index finger from a few angles of attack has resulted in a usable fingerprint auth experience. It now works ~95% of the time, rather than the ~10% I was seeing before.
