Hello! This is my first time posting in this forum.
I really love having a picture widget, but I only use one picture at a time. I noticed I can’t disable the slideshow, the least timer is 1 second and the most is 24 hours, so there will always be a fade-to-black effect for a certain timer. There is no option to just not do any slideshow and just display that single image forever.
If I could request an improvement, I would like the slideshow to be able to be turned off
I use that widget on a side panel on the right edge of the screen, and I don’t see any grey frame when the picture does not have the expected dimeonsions, it’s simply centered with transparent/blank empty space above and below the picture, exactly as the background of that panel. So, it’s probably related with the panel configuration and/or color-scheme.
You have 2 options; selecting a folder or a file, which in the latter case will only show the image selected, and everything else related with slideshow from a folder of images will be irrelevant, I guess.
I say all this based on my observation under KDE Plasma 6.5.3 now, because I’ve only started using the widget very recently. So, these might reflect some new features added, and/or some bugs fixed, as you don’t mention whih version you’re using.
Thanks for letting me know on the 1st point!
As for the 2nd point:
I’m on KDE 6.5.2 and my distro is Bazzite 43. My case might a bug or unintended scenario of usage, but yes I have chosen only a single file. As seen here:
The problem is the widget seemed to want to “cycle” the image and has a fade to black transition after the timer hits 0, (which is 10 seconds by default I think) but the image itself didn’t change because it is just a single file. Despite that the fade to black transition is still there. That is the thing that bothers me, even if it’s just for a split second. Do you experience this too?
Yes, I changed the setting to 1 minute, and I could see a very very short and slight fade to black at the end. I think it will be virtually ineffective if the slideshow time interval is set to 12 hours or 24 hours. But it might be a good idea if this also occurs in KDE neon in order to rule out any distro-level packaging problem.
