I stubble into a an odd situation.
I have installed Polonium and I was about to configure some shortcuts.
When I try to add “meta+shift+right arrow(key)” I get following absurd feedback from plasma´s shortcut menu.
How can I debug this?
i don’t know the language in your image, but i will assume that it is warning you that the shortcut is already used by kwin:
‘meta+shift+right’ default = window to next screen
if the language is not yours, i had a similar issue with one of my installations when i chose a region that used year/month/day ‘time’ format ie Russia. It displayed All dialogs in Russian.
Is this combinations somehow doomed I still don´t understand, do you have any idea what could be the cause? I also use some TWM, using this shortcut, so I know the combinations should work…interesting
Wondering the internet searching for answers for my issue and found a nugget of truth: my issue isn’t new!
Makes me wonder: have those noble travelers before me: Have they ever found their answers? Did they solve their issue and live happily for years to come? Have they given up hope and settled somewhere halfway?
Hi - just curious, are folks who are seeing this using keyboard layouts where that input might also trigger a “dead key” somehow?
That symbol showing up after trying to set the shortcut reminds me of what was seen on some existing KDE Bugtracking System reports, which involved shortcuts not working if they shared some input with dead key triggers:
Don’t know.
In my future 2025/04/12 Plasma 6.3.4
using the same language as the former OP and a Keyboard matching that language (but not Polonium and not on openSUSE) I have no problem to reassign META+SHIFT+RIGHT(arrow-key) to something else.
