Microphone not working in Mac OS X

Hi,

I’m using macOS Ventura 13.5.2 and kdenlive 23.08, I’m unable to record any voice over track.

I’m not getting any error but the recorded sound is empty, have tried with several microphones and it seems the issue is related to macOS permissions. Kdenlive is not requesting user to allow this access and it neither appears on the list at System settings - Privacy and security - Microphone; therefore the system seems to not allow accessing the microphone.

I would greatly appreciate any help on this, just learning kdenlive and I really enjoy it.

Thanks.

I have the same issues. Any idea how to fix?

Best option is to create a bug report in bugs.kde.org

There is already one. ;-D Thanks for the hint!

The bug report was created for version 23.04.3 which is close to 2 years old. Which version are you using? I can change it in the bug report you added to.

Many thanks

Kdenlive: 24.12.3
Mac: M1 Pro / Sequoia 15.3.2

No waveform no / no audio see image below

I guess the latest security changes by Apple caused “No asking for microphone permissions.”

The microphone section in my system setting does not contain “kdenlive”.

BTW: Screenrecording also not working:

Admin says sound is not a bug and refer you to previous articles so don’t waste your time. I fixed mine with using an added hardware component called a bluetooth-transmitter. Try uising a new dongle or a C28-bluetooth transmitter. Personally I think pulse-audio app is broken and plasma-blueZ integration is troublesome. I’m using a macbook-M1 with intel CPU 5-core. Sound has always been an issue on a mac.
